Introducing Muni ‘Lily’ He - Golf Prodigy And Internet Sensation

Earning a membership at the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LGPA) and clocking 300k+ Instagram followers is not a bad return for serial internet-breaker Muni ‘Lily’ He after just 21 years on the planet. The young Chinese star is making life look too easy on IG, while the game of golf doesn’t seem to be a problem for her either. Behold, a visual embodiment of winning at life.

He was born in Chengdu, Sichuan, in 1999 but was raised in Vancouver and attended high school in San Diego, California. She now resides in an insane-looking mansion in the hills near LA with her own private driving range in the back garden.

Scrolling through her Insta could lead one to believe that golf is more of a hobby to this stunning young talent but she is adamant that her sporting career takes precedent over everything else. Lucrative ambassador deals with Nike and WeChat, while extremely handy, take a backseat next to modelling contracts and an exponentially growing presence on the internet.

After first picking up the game aged six, He’s parents quickly realised their daughter was a natural and moved to Canada to nurture her talent in the hope that she could one day turn pro. She managed it before her 19th birthday.

One IG post reads, “It’s crazy to think that 10 years ago I was a part of the HSBC junior program and now I’m here competing alongside the best women golfers in the world.”

Getting accepted into such a prestigious program at just nine years old alongside mostly teenagers is a testament to the bags of potential He has.

He’s level of online fame is far from normal for a rookie. To put it into context, she was one of six Chinese-born players on the 2019 LGPA, one of whom was former World No.1, Shanshan Feng. He’s IG account currently has 301k followers, while seasoned pro Feng has little over 4000.

The limelight is not something He shies away from. Her ever-growing online profile is showing no signs of slowing down, so campaigning for action on climate change and fighting for equal opportunities in sport are both admirable uses of her platform.

Her early professional career has been up and down so far, but that raw talent is simmering beneath the surface. The 2020 LPGA tour is looking to resume mid-July, so be sure to keep your eye on this ambitious young athlete - a task most people probably won’t find too difficult.
